RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A former day-care worker was charged with assault and battery after deputies say she slapped a toddler multiple times after the child allegedly did not put away toys.
Thomasine Jackson, 56, was working at the Play Pals Kindergarten and Daycare located in the 1200 block of Dothan Road on May 3 when the incident occurred.
When the victim’s parents picked up the child from the daycare, they notified authorities after seeing redness and bruising to both sides of their three-year-old daughter’s face, deputies say.
The child was treated at an area hospital.
Jackson is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
