SLED: Armed Man Wounded by Newberry Officers

NEWBERRY, SC (WOLO)–The South Carolina Law Enforcement division is investigating a shooting of an armed man by two police officers in Newberry.

State Law Enforcement spokesman Thom Berry says the two Newberry Officers heard gunshots and found a man on a nearby street.  Berry says the initial reports showed the man fired at the officers, the officers then returned fire.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The officers were not hit.
