CPD Charge Second Person in Connection to Falling Springs Apartment Shooting

Columbia, SC (WOLO) —Columbia Police Investigators have arrested a 19-year-old male in connection with a shooting and larceny investigation on Falling Springs Road.

Tommy Truong Le is charged with Unlawfully Carrying of a Pistol and Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits. Authorities say he did not have a valid concealed weapons permit (CWP) when he brought a gun with him during a plan to sell a $1,000 watch to Zayvonne Tornell Green,19, at 3000 block of Falling Springs Road yesterday.

Police say, Green was at the location with a friend but instead of buying the watch, Green is accused of stealing it and Le’s cell phone before running into an apartment. Green’s friend also ran and was shot in the buttocks and hand.

Le and his friend stayed with the shooting victim and called 9-1-1. When officers arrived, two in particular rendered aid to the victim by using supplies in the department-issued medical kit to apply bandages to the wounds before EMS arrived.

Shortly after the shooting, officers found Green hiding in a closet at the same location, was arrested and charged with Larceny.

Le has been released from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.
