Thousands of Free Back-to-School Kits to be Distributed

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Make sure your child heads back to school this fall prepared.

Molina Healthcare of South Carolina, along with Wateree Community Action Organization, will be handing out 2,000 free school supplies kits, packed in backpacks, at a back-to-school bash Saturday at the Charles Drew Wellness Center.

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to noon. The kits will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Half of them will go to elementary school students – the other half will go to kids in middle and high school.

Additionally, local businesses have partnered with Molina to offer:

  • Free eye screenings
  • Free hearing screenings
  • Vouchers for free mammograms

Attendees can also enjoy music, food trucks and activities like face painting.
