Merrifield Homers in Each Half of Royals Doubleheader
KANSAS CITY, Mo (WOLO) – Former Gamecock Whit Merrifield homered in each game of a doubleheader Sunday, splitting the pair with Seattle.
The Royals dropped the first contest 8-7 while winning the late game 9-1.
The Florence native is now in possession of a .294 batting average, has driven in 49 runs, scoring 50 himself in his second season at the MLB level. Merrifield only played in half of the Royals games a year ago, but has already appeared 93 times for Kansas City in 2017.
