700 New Jobs Coming to Richland County

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A leading global provider of indoor comfort systems has announced plans to double its workforce at its operations in Richland County.

Trane, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, is expanding. The business said it will invest $96 million and create 700 new jobs to keep up with growth.

Currently, Trane has 600 employees in South Carolina. The company offers a range of energy-efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

“South Carolina’s advanced manufacturing industry has put our state on the map, and this latest expansion by an industry leader like Trane is a testament to our success,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

Its current facility at 400 Killian Road in Columbia makes components and units for HVAC equipment. The expansion will increase the facility by 680,000 square feet. Hiring for the new positions should start in 2018 as construction nears completion
