One Airlifted After Lexington County Shed Fire

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – One person was airlifted to an area hospital after a fire broke out in a shed on a property near Swansea.

Lexington County Fire Service said it was dispatched to the property, in the 400 block of Bud Rish Road, just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. First responders reported seeing heavy flames and smoke coming from a 20-by-30 foot shed.

Upon starting their attack, Lexington Fire said it discovered the person in the yard near the structure – that person was airlifted as a precaution. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire shortly after.

An initial investigation into the cause of the fire suggests that a flash fire started when the patient was working on a lawn mower.

The shed was deemed a total loss.
