Dustin Johnson on his key to competing at PGA Championship

CHARLOTTE (WOLO) – Irmo’s Dustin Johnson has made the cut at his second-straight major despite posting just one birdie and four bogeys on Friday at the PGA Championship.

The top-ranked player in the world and Dutch Fork alum scored a 74 (+3) during a weather-delayed second round and a near nighttime finish at Quail Hollow Club. The former Silver Fox is two-over (70, -1 on Thursday) for the tournament, tied for 31st. The cut line for the weekend was five-over par (71). He is 11 strokes back of Aiken native Kevin Kisner and Hideki Matsuyama (-8).

Johnson described why his group of Jason Day (-6) and Henrik Stenson (+2) each wanted to finish their round before play was suspended for the day. He then spoke to ABC Columbia Sports about the impact of playing what he’s said feels like a “home event”, being so close to the Midlands, and what his keys are for the remainder of the championship.
