Columbia Officer Rescues Passenger from Burning Car

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–  A Columbia police officer pulled a passenger from a burning car after a hit and run Sunday morning.

Investigators say it happened at the intersection of Hampton and Harden Streets around 2:30 in the morning.

According to police, 35 year old Stefanie Seufert is charged with DUI, Driving Under Suspension,  Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, and Failure to Give Information and Render Aid.

Police say when they arrived they found the victim’s car on fire with two passengers inside.

An officer was able to pull one victim to safety while EMT’s were able to rescue the other.

Investigators say Seufert was arrested after she struck a telephone pole on Meeting St. a short time later.
