Clemson basketball team “safe and secure” in Barcelona after attack

BARCELONA (WOLO) — The Clemson men’s basketball team is “safe and secure” in Barcelona according to the school, after a suspected terror attack in the city.

The team was scheduled to face the Barcelona All-Stars in an overseas preseason tour, but the Tigers announced today they’ve cancelled the exhibition game tonight and are heading back home to South Carolina.

“Our thoughts are with the people of Barcelona and those injured at this time,” the school said in a statement released Thursday.

According to ABC News. a truck hit pedestrians on Catalunya Square in Barcelona’s Las Ramblas district Thursday afternoon.

Spanish authorities said there were injuries and one death has been confirmed.
