Memorial services for Richland County Sheriff's Department K9 Deputy Tosca will be held Thursday

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – Memorial services for Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Deputy Tosca will be held Thursday.

The service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Richland Sheriff’s Department Headquarters, located at 5623 Two Notch Road in Columbia.

Sheriff Leon Lott says the community is invited to attend.

On Saturday, August 5, authorities said K9 Tosca was taken off a ventilator after suffering from a seizure. Sheriff Lott said the Belgian Malinois was rushed to the hospital by her handler, Deputy Emily Lemmond on Friday night in an attempt to save her life.

K9 Tosca was trained in drug detection, tracking, suspect apprehension, and more. The sheriff said in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to provide vests to RCSD’s K-9 Unit in the name of K-9 Tosca. You can forward your support to the Richland County Sheriff’s Foundation, PO Box 1182 Columbia, South Carolina, 29202.
