Lawsuit Filed following Spring Valley Classroom Incident

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–The student arrested for recording an incident in a Spring Valley High School Classroom is suing Richland School District 2.

Niya Kenny’s Attorney Bakari Sellers of the Strom Law Firm says his client is suing the district for False Imprisonment, Negligence, and Defamation.

ABC Columbia has reached out to the school district but has yet to receive a response.

In October of 2015 Kenny’s video of a school resource officer tossing a student in her desk went viral.

Following the incident Kenny was arrested for disturbing school, that charge was eventually dropped.
