Governor McMaster Cuts Abortion Affiliated Funding

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — Friday Governor Henry McMaster signed an executive order demanding all State agencies to immediately halt payments to any abortion clinics.

In the order, the Governor also directed the state Department of Health and Human Services to look for waivers that would block any medical clinics affiliated with abortions from the Medicaid provider network.

Governor Henry McMaster released a statement saying in part ” There are a variety of agencies in the state that offer women’s health and family planning services without performing abortions.”

It didn’t take long for Women’s Rights Organizations to respond.

Shortly after the Executive order was signed,  Vicki Ringer, The Director of Planned Parenthood called the Governors actions nothing more than a “political stunt”.
Saying in part quote “While he spends money on scoring political points, Planned Parenthood will continue providing services that our patients rely on.”
