S.C. State Museum to Begin Collecting Eclipse Glasses on Sept. 1

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- If you find yourself wondering what to do with leftover glasses from the Total Solar Eclipse, the South Carolina State Museum has a solution that will save you money and help others.

Starting September 1st, the State Museum is offering a two dollar discount to folks who bring in their gently used or new solar eclipse glasses. The discount will be applied to a combo ticket at the museum.

The glasses will be donated to Astronomy Without Borders. The organization plans to distribute the glasses to students in South America and Asia for their eclipse in 2019.

Large groups and events are also encouraged to donate leftover glasses. Donations will accepted from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The drive ends at 5 p.m. on Monday, September 4th.
