CHARLESTON, S.C. (WOLO) –
A memorial for the victim of a deadly hostage situation in Charleston was held Sunday.
Anthony Shane Whiddon was shot and killed Thursday inside the restaurant ‘Virginia’s on King’. Whiddon was the Executive Chef there.
Flowers were seen outside of the restaurant as mourners paid their respects. Also, in just two days a Go-Fund-Me for his family has raised nearly $90,000.
Police identify the suspect as Thomas Burns, believed to be a “disgruntled employee.”
Police say Burns has a criminal past and a history of mental illness.
The 53-year-old was shot by law enforcement and is still in the hospital at last check.
His condition is unknown at this time.
