RCSD: 81 Year Old Murdered During Robbery

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)  Richland County deputies say two men are in custody in connection with the murder of 81 year old Duaine Hamilton.

Investigators say on August 22nd, Jason Randolph and Jeffery Simmons tried to steal two televisions from Sears at Columbia Place Mall.

Deputies say Hamilton tried to stop the men, who then pushed him to the ground causing him to hit his head.

He later died from the injury.

Sheriff Leon Lott says Simmons was arrested on August 25th and Randolph was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Hamilton worked at Sears for 13 years, before that he worked at AT&T, retired from the US Air Force.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years and six children.
