What To Do If You Expect Price Gouging
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Hurricane Harvey has gas prices on the rise across the country and the Midlands is no exception.
According to columbiagasprices.com, the Midlands average is $2.44 a gallon, that’s up .40 cents from just a week ago.
So far there have been no reports of price gouging.
That is when a business charges an unreasonalbe price for an item during an emergency.
Attorney General Alan WIlson says if you suspect price gouging just follow these steps, note the time, the name and location of the gas station, and how much you paid compared with nearby prices.
Wilson also suggests taking pictures of the price and sending all of that information to pricegouging@sce&g.org.
