Chapin Hosts Thousands at Annual Labor Day Parade
CHAPIN, S.C. (WOLO)- Campaigns, community and candy were all on full display at the 38th Annual Chapin Labor Day Parade.
“It’s such a great labor day tradition out here in Chapin, this parade, this celebration. It’s a privilege to be here,” said Richland Representative James Smith.
Chapin mayor Skip Wilson said the fanfare is for young and old alike. “This is a day we can bring a lot of families together, have a good time, show the community spirit we have here,. In light of all that is happening in the world, this is a time for us to be able to have some fellowship and enjoy each other so we are really excited about it,” Wilson said.
Every year, political figures from around the state make their way down Chapin Road.
“It’s the biggest political parade in the state. Anybody who is anybody is here!” Larry Russell of the South Carolina Celebrate Freedom Foundation said.
Many of the youngsters who spoke to ABC Columbia said the floats and cars passing out candy was the highlight of their day.
