3 Injured After Car Goes Off Bridge Into River

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Three people were taken to the hospital after their vehicle went off a bridge Monday and into the Waccamaw River near Myrtle Beach, according to Horry County Fire and Rescue.

Horry County Fire crews say the car went off the bridge and dropped into a marshy area in the Waccamaw River.

Teams had to lower people and equipment down the ravine, to get the car and rescue everyone inside.

A child was airlifted to an area hospital.

In a tweet, the department stated that the car fell 40 feet from the bridge.

 

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
