COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – Monday (9/11) marks the 16th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks.
Events intended to mark the occasion across the Midlands were canceled though, due to Tropical Storm Irma.
In New York, the Pentagon, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and across the nation citizens paused to reflect on the tragic events of that day.
President Trump spoke at the Pentagon. Vice President Mike Pence spoke in Shanksville, the sight of the Flight 93 crash.
At ground zero, relatives of the nearly 3,000 people killed on 9/11 began the annual reading of the names of their loved ones.
