COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — On the verge of a top 25 ranking — the first under Will Muschamp — the Gamecocks know what’s on the line when USC hosts Kentucky Saturday night.

“It’s an SEC east opponent, the home opener,” said Muschamp Tuesday.

But there’s more.

The Wildcats have won three-straight against the Gamecocks, the longest win streak in the series for UK.

Last season, USC couldn’t stop Benny Snell and Kentucky’s rush attack, allowing 351 yards on the ground.

“We couldn’t stop the run last season,” said Muschamp. “They bled us out in the fourth quarter.”

USC couldn’t do much offensively either, putting up just 268 total yards.

“We couldn’t run the ball,” said Muschamp. “So it’s a good challenge for our guys this week.”
