1 dead, 3 injured after school shooting in Washington state, police say
A student from Washington State is dead after trying to stop a school shooting.
Authorities say it happened Wednesday morning at Freeman High School near Spokane.
According to police, the suspect walked into the school with a black duffel bag, and tried to shoot one gun, which jammed.
Officers say, the suspected gunman then pulled out another weapon and shot and killed a student who tried to stop him. Authorities say the shooter then moved down the hallway and struck three more students who are listed in stable condition.
A courageous act by a member of the school staff stopped the shooter.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was taken into custody and is currently being held in juvenile detention.
