Delays Expected During Fort Jackson’s Mass Casualty Exercise

FORT JACKSON, S.C. (WOLO) – Soldiers, employees and visitors can expect longer than usual wait times at Fort Jackson’s entrance gates on September 26.

The installation is holding a force protection exercise, that will involve simulated casualties. As a result, you will notice more emergency vehicles, transporting “victims” to several area hospitals.

Post officials are testing their ability to respond to a number of simulated situations. The Crisis Management Team will manage the incidents, which will be focused on areas ranging from mass casualty protocol to emergency operation center procedures.

Because of the nature of the incidents, the installation will raise the Force Protection Condition to its highest level, which will stop traffic entering the installation.
