Local Businesses Banking on Sold Out USC Game, Fans Get Cocky

If you don’t have your ticket by now, chances are you wont be walking into the Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday.  The University of South Carolina Athletics ticket office announced Thursday that the South Carolina -Kentucky football game, is officially sold out.

The good news is businesses in the Vista and 5 points are cooking up ways for you to enjoy the game and cash in.

Gamecock fans traveling 17 hours from Florida to root for the home team.

“To come home for a team that is undefeated, we’ve got a chance to really do something this year,” John Routh,  the original Cocky said. “It’s exciting, its a great year.”

This game is one fans say they just can’t miss.

“Oh course, I’d have to be in my death bed not to,” Gamecock fan. Lynda Murray said.

“I got a ticket so I’m all set,” Routh said.

Not to mention the blackout.

“We’re going to wear like black shirts, and our black jersey and black dresses,” USC Student, Jentry Ward said. “You can feel it in the air that everybody is so stoked.”

“I know its a blackout game its going to be a wild atmosphere,” Routh said.

More than 80 thousand people will fill the area on Saturday. Local businesses are already gearing up for the rush.

“We’re all pumped, we’re all super excited,” Brian Neal, Wild Wings Vista General Manager said. “We’re offering a tailgate tackle platter which is a group appetizer. You get to choose three different apps for your meal. It’s a real good item to have for finger foods.”

Home games are a touch down for business

“Compared to a normal Summer Saturday,  we see a good 40% increase,” Neal said.

As for fans,  it’s just another reason to be Cocky.

“I’m confident the Gamecocks will win,” Routh said.

Twin Peaks in the Vista is offering 20% off of appetizers for all students and staff.

Yesterday’s in 5 Points is offering half off of appetizers to fans wearing Gamecock colors. They’re also giving away a $200 gift card to the person who can correctly guess the score. If no one can guess correctly, the person who is closest to the score will win a $50 gift card.
