State Rep. Leon Howard’s Niece Shot During Vista Shooting Saturday

COLUMBIA,SC (WOLO)- A State Rep’s niece was one of the 8 people shot during a Saturday morning shooting in the Vista.

“People deserve to go out have a nice time without fear of being injured or killed,” Rep. Leon Howard said.

While out celebrating a friend’s birthday, Howard’s niece, Kristie Logan was shot in the knee while walking to her car.

“When you exchange gunfire in a crowded area like the Vista, that proves you have no regard for life,” Howard said.

Police arresting and charging four men in connection to the shooting.

“They were and are danger to society,” Howard said.

His niece texted him while on her way to the hospital. Howard said he couldn’t get inside because the hospital was on lock down after the shooting.

“Didn’t matter who you were, they were instructed not to let anyone in or anyone out,” Howard said.

Howard said the shooting has dramatically changed her life forever.

“She’s out of work,” Howard said. “There is going to have to be a major adjustment for quite sometime. She has a four year old to take care of.”
