COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The Gamecocks best player is out indefinitely.
Add insult to injury, literally.
During Carolina’s 23-13 loss to Kentucky Saturday night, the Gamecocks lost their most dynamic player, Deebo Samuel to a broken leg. His status is uncertain for the rest of the season, so now the Gamecocks are tasked with moving on from their first loss of the season while coping with the loss of a leader.
“One person doesn’t step in and accomplish those things (replacing Deebo’s numbers),” said USC coach Will Muschamp Tuesday afternoon. “We certainly have guys that we have confidence in that have the ability to be very effective in what we’re trying to do.”
Samuel leads the SEC in scoring and accounts for six of Carolina’s 11 touchdowns so far this season.
“Outside of Or’Tre Smith, Bryan Edwards and Terry Googer, those guys need to continue to come on for us.”
