Vista Nightclub License Revoked
Columbia, SC (WOLO) —
Late Thursday night Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announced his decision concerning the fate of Vista nightclub following a weekend shooting outside the venue.
Holbrook says he has decided to revoke the city issued business license for the Empire Supper Club and served official notice of his decision to Bakari Sellers the attorney representing club owner Joseph Stovall.
The shooting took place Saturday morning outside the venue on Lady Street. Four men and four women were injured in the crossfire before police declared the business a public nuisance and padlocked the doors to the business.
While the business owner had a private meeting with Chief Holbrook earlier in the week to discuss suggested safety options, it did not appear to change the final decision announced Thursday. Columbia Police say on the advice of the City Attorney they will not make further comments.
