Lexington, SC (WOLO)– Neighbors of a Lexington couple say they seemed completely normal on the outside, but police say something went horribly wrong, leaving the husband dead and the children without a father. Right now Lexington Police are not disclosing what led up to the event leaving Michael Bryan dead in his bed or the motive, but neighbors cannot believe this happened just a few doors down to a family that looked picture perfect.
“They were a normal family. They really were. Completely normal. They didn’t even argue. It’s weird,” Collin Stevens said. Stevens lives a few doors down and says he has his whole life, even playing basketball with Bryan’s youngest son. When he heard Groh turned herself in for murder charges, he could not believe what police say happened in his neighborhood.
It is been 10 months since Bryan was found shot in the chest after Lexington Police say his wife, Kimberly Groh, called 911.
“Information came back from all the different sources, from forensics and from digital downloads of devices, and there was enough evidence from that shows that she had murdered her husband,” Corporal Cameron Mortenson said.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s Forensic lab, The Coroner’s Office and Newberry Pathology assisted in the investigation. Police say they left no rock unturned, even turning to social media for clues.
“In 2017, everything’s in play. From things that are going on in the house, to forensics and blood splatter, and then, also looking into the digital side as well,” Mortenson said.
“It’s very quiet, nothing goes on here. Really, nothing…You can kind of tell people are mean, she didn’t give off that vibe. She always had a smile. I don’t know,” Stevens said.
Groh and her council waived her right to a bond hearing, so she will make her first appearance in circuit court. The date of that hearing is still being determined.
