Lexington woman arrested in husband’s death, 10 months later

LEXINGTON, S.C. LEXINGTON, SC (WOLO) – Nearly a year later, a Lexington woman has been arrested in the death of her 55-year-old husband, Lexington Police Department officials announced Wednesday.

A spokesman said Kimberly Groh, 51, is awaiting a bond hearing on Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime charges at Lexington County Detention Center.

LPD said early the morning of November 30, 2016, officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 800 block of Corley Street. Officers said upon arrival, they found Michael Bryan, deceased in bed, with a single gunshot wound to his chest.

The department said after an investigation that included interviews, forensic examination of electronic devices, along with blood spatter and ballistics testing, investigators determined that Groh shot her husband, Bryan with a rifle.

Police said they obtained arrest warrants for Groh on September 25, and she turned herself in to LPD the morning of September 26.

“Ten months has passed since the death of Michael Bryan and the patience of the Bryan family was appreciated as detectives diligently worked through every aspect of this tragic investigation,” LPD Chief Terrence Green said. “I hope that the arrest of Kimberly Groh brings closure and answers to Michael Bryan’s family and friends.”
