Watch: Gamecocks come through in clutch to clinch Super Bowl trips

(WOLO) – A pair of former Gamecocks were instrumental Sunday in leading their teams along the path to the Lombardi Trophy.

Rock Hill native and former Gamecock cornerback Stephon Gilmore made the final play to seal victory for his Patriots in their come-from-behind win over the Jaguars in the AFC Championship game. Jacksonville threw at the Carolina alum on 4th and 14, but Gilmore was able to make an acrobatic play and break up Blake Bortles pass and send the Pats to their eighth Super Bowl under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

In the NFC Championship, Calhoun County and Carolina alum Alshon Jeffery had five catches for 85 yards, highlighted by two touchdowns in his Eagles’ 38-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

The pair of Gamecocks, along with former Clemson Tiger and Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen, will face off in Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis February 4.
