Whipple, Irmo prepare for Dorman in 5A State Championship

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO) — After defeating Blythewood 48-47 with a buzzer-beater, Irmo will advance to the Lower State Championship game marking their 10th appearance in championship play. The Yellow Jackets will take on the defending champions, Dorman at 8:30 Friday night in Colonial Life Arena.

The Yellow Jackets are on a nine game win-streak, marking a 21-7 record. Head Coach Tim Whipple had concerns early on in the season when his team was 11-7 and 2-5 in the region. With prominiate wins and excellent coaching, they were able to secure a spot in the High School playoffs.
Irmo’s victory over Blythewood was lead by Winton Hill with 12 points and Hasuan Rivers with 11 points. Hill also assisted in Irmo’s 57-43 win over West Ashley, allowing them to advance to the semi-finals.
The Yellow Jackets performance and execution in their last few games has left Coach Tim Whipple extremely proud of his team this season.
