Jails Not Collecting DNA Samples

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — According to State Investigators, jails are failing to get DNA samples from crime suspects.

The Charleston Post and Courier reports the data released by State Law Enforcement Division shows that many jails are not complying with the requirement to obtain the samples.
SLED Major Todd Hughey says the failure means jails may unknowingly release people who committed serious crimes.
