Riding 16-game winning streak, Gamecocks face Youngstown State Tuesday

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina Softball takes its season-high 16-game winning streak into the week as it plays host to Youngstown State Tuesday night at 6:00 PM ET. Fans can catch the game on SEC Network Plus or live stats will be provided on gamecocksonline.com.

Carolina takes a season-high 16-game winning streak into the week as the Gamecocks posted a perfect 4-0 record last week with four wins in the Carolina Classic against George Washington, Liberty and Marshall.

Carolina is set to be on TV for the third time this season against Youngstown State on Tuesday as SEC Network Plus is scheduled to broadcast the game.

South Carolina’s opponents for the week come in with a combined 28-38 record. The two games against No. 4 Oklahoma will be the first time the Gamecocks have faced a ranked opponent in 2018.

Carolina comes into the 2018 season looking to build upon a 34- 25 season in which the Gamecocks reached the regional final for the third time under the direction of head coach Beverly Smith.

The Gamecocks welcome seven freshmen and transfer Dixie Raley to the program this season to bring the Gamecocks to 20 active members.

Head coach Beverly Smith has been California Dreaming with her roster, as South Carolina has six Californians on the team, more than any other state combined. The next closest is a tie with three between Georgia and South Carolina.

Carolina won’t be lacking arms this season with five available coming into the new season, leaving 15 fielders.
