Sumter woman accused of hitting 7-year-old, pushing teacher

Sumter, S.C. (WOLO)–Sumter County deputies say Cheneathia Caesar is charged with assault.

Investigators say at 7:30 Wednesday morning Caesar entered Kingsbury Elementary School with her 8-year-old daughter.

Deputies say Caesar’s daughter pointed out a 7 year-old student who she said had been throwing pencils at her.

At that point, deputies say, Caesar began yelling at the 7 year-old.

As teachers tried to stop her, investigators say she pushed one of them to the ground and then struck the 7 year old in the face.

She was immediately taken into custody by an off-duty Sumter Police Department officer.
