Repaying the Penny Tax

Richland Co, SC (WOLO) — The Supreme Court has spoken and Richland County Council will comply.
Friday evening the Richland County Council held a meeting to figure out how to move forward after the State Supreme Court sided with the Department of Revenue in a lawsuit over the County’s Penny Tax program.

The Council announcing they are prepared to comply with the Supreme Courts ruling and repay any contested fines associated with the penny tax program.

The Penny Sales Tax was initially approved via referendum in 2012 with the goal of creating one billion dollars for transportation projects over twenty years.
