Columbia, SC (WOLO) —Thursday morning hundreds of students, adults, community leaders, and even some mascots converged on the state house steps to help encourage youngsters to start their life long love of reading early during the South Carolina Read-in.

The annual event is a statewide celebration of libraries and helps get children excited about cracking open book.
