Gamecock great Andre Goodman hired by local high school football team

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — He played in the NFL for 10 years, and now a former Gamecock great will try to teach that knowledge he’s accumulated over the last decade.

Andre Goodman, who played defensive back for the Gamecocks from 1998-2001, was hired by Hammond to coach the secondary, head coach Erik Kimrey announced on social media Wednesday.

“I’m excited to announce Andre Goodman will be joining our staff and coaching in the secondary,” Kimrey said. “Andre is a NFL veteran, SC Hall of Fame inductee, and a former Gamecock. Our team stands to gain much from Andre’s experience and wisdom.”

Goodman had 86 tackles in his career at USC, then was drafted in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

He played for the Lions, Dolphins, and Broncos in his career, but most recently focused on off-the-field roles, including a stint with the Miami Dolphins organization this past year.
