Politicians postpone campaigning until hurricane passes

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Today both Governor Henry McMaster and Democratic Gubernatorial nominee James Smith announced they are suspending all campaign activities until the storm has passed.

According to a McMaster for Governor spokesperson, “the governor is focused on preparing the state for the possible impact of this hurricane.”

Smith, a major in the S.C. Army National Guard, expressed full confidence in the professionals in the state’s emergency preparedness system, according to campaign officials.

“This is a time to help our friends and neighbors get ready for this potential disaster any way we can, not for politics,” Smith said.
