Hundreds saved by volunteer rescue group

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Over 500 people across the Carolina’s since Florence made landfall have been rescued by the Cajun Navy, a volunteer rescue group.

The Cajun Navy emerged following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The volunteer rescue group consists of individuals that use their own fishing boats to rescue people from flooded waters and take them to higher ground.
