Columbia, SC (AP) — State Republican leaders are considering canceling South Carolina’s first in the South primary to protect President Donald Trump.

Party leaders told the Associated Press this week they’re considering cancelling the primary which would make it harder for a Republican challenger to gain delegates and ultimately win the party’s nomination.

Republicans in New Hampshire are considering a similar decision.
