RICHLAND, S.C. (WOLO) – Richland County deputies arrested a man for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old child.

Authorities say Arcea Smith, 27, was arrested Thursday at the 100 block of O’Neil Court without incident.

Smith is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and cruelty to children.

According to investigators, between June 2012 and June 2013, Smith sexually assaulted a child within his family when she was between the ages of 3 and 4.

The victim recently told legal guardians what Smith had done to her while she was under his care and lived in Richland County.

Smith is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
