LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)- South Carolina Highway Patrol officials say a woman has been arrested for a fatal hit and run on Saturday.

Lexington County deputies say Ashley Burkhard, 33, is facing a charge of Hit and Run Involving Death.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher says at approximately 9:45 a.m., Devontaye Washington, 21, was walking south along Nazareth Road near Wando Circle, when he was struck by a motor vehicle.

Fisher says Washington died on scene from his injuries, while Burkhard fled the scene.

Burkhard is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center without bond.
