GreenJackets edge Fireflies, 3-2 Tuesday
North Augusta, SC: Keaton Winn gave the GreenJackets six-innings on the mound, allowing two runs, and Jesus Ozoria went three scoreless out of the bullpen to beat the Columbia Fireflies (13-25) by a final of 3-2 on Tuesday.
Willy Taveras retired the first ten that he faced, but in the 4th inning, the Jackets offense got on the board. After a double for Shane Matheny, later in the inning, with two outs, Frankie Tostado hit his 6th home run of the season and put the GreenJackets in front at 2-1.
Columbia responded off Winn in the 5th inning, when Wagner Lagrange doubled and scored Gerson Molina to tie the game at two. In the 5th inning, Jeffry Parra hit a home run for the 2nd consecutive game. His solo shot helped the GreenJackets retake the lead at 3-2.
Keaton Winn goes six innings on the mound, allowing two runs and collecting four strikeouts. The six innings were the most Winn has gone in an outing for his career.
Jesus Ozoria came on and did not allow a run in three frames out of the bullpen. Winn ends up the winning pitcher, his 2nd victory of the season, while Taveras gets the loss for Columbia.
Player of the Game: Frankie Tostado, 1-4, HR, 2 RBI
Tostado’s home run in the 4th inning was a big one. His 6th of the year helped the GreenJackets take the lead as Tostado hit it out to right field.
