Hammond tops Ben Lippen, 12-11 in SCISA baseball championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — In a back-and-forth instant classic game two of the 3A SCISA baseball championship series, Hammond outlasted Ben Lippen, 12-11 Tuesday night, forcing a deciding, winner-take-all game three.

Tied 5-5 in the 5th inning, Oregon commit Tucker Toman gave Hammond the lead for good, blasting a grand slam over the right field wall, putting the Falcons in far too much of a hole to climb out of.

Though they almost did.

The Falcons rallied and put up six runs in the top of the seventh before the comeback fell short.

The deciding game three will be Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Blowfish Stadium.
