Jaime Harrison launches Senate campaign to challenge Senator Graham

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – A familiar name in South Carolina politics is challenging Senator Lindsey Graham.

Jaime Harrison is an Orangeburg native and a top official at the Democratic National Committee.

He announced his campaign by releasing a video Wednesday (5/29) morning.

If Harrison beat Graham, he would be the first democrat to win a senate race in South Carolina in more than two decades.

Gloria Bromell Tinubu is also seeking the democratic nomination.

The State Republican Party released a statement in response to Harrison’s announcement:

“Democrats have spent months attacking Senator Graham for standing up for conservative values and refusing to give in to the liberal smear campaign against Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Gloria Tinubu and Jaime Harrison hope to extract revenge by rallying liberals across America to their cause, but they are going to learn the hard way that South Carolinians appreciate the leadership that Lindsey Graham has brought to the issues they care about.”
