SC National Guard members deploying for Operation Spartan Shield

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – Around 100 of South Carolina’s bravest are on their way to the middle east.

Friday (8/2) afternoon members of the South Carolina National Guard gathered in the gym at Newberry College before being deployed to join “Operation Spartan Shield.”

The Guard says the soldiers will serve in the middle east for the next nine months.
