Officials say one person hit by train near Calhoun and Williams St.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a train in August.

Coroner Gary Watts says Roger Dale Moore, 39, died from blunt trauma to the head.

According to the Columbia Fire Department, officials responded after Moore was hit by a train in the area of Calhoun and Williams Street.

Authorities say it happened after 8 a.m. on August 14.

Columbia Police say the man was walking on the railroad tracks and didn’t acknowledge multiple train horns before his foot was significantly injured.

Coroner officials say Moore died at noon on September 1.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is investigating this incident.
