Jury to decide life or death for bank robber who killed 2
FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — The same jury that found a North Carolina man guilty of killing two employees during a South Carolina bank robbery will now decide whether he is executed for the crimes.
A federal jury deliberated just over an hour Tuesday before delivering guilty verdicts against Brandon Council.
News outlets report Council’s trial in Florence then moved into deciding whether he gets life in prison or the death penalty for shooting the manager and a teller at CresCom Bank in Conway in August 2017.
Council’s lawyer did not dispute his guilt and did not call any witnesses. But they say he is remorseful and has cooperated with investigators.
Prosecutors say Council should die because he chose to kill two wonderful people to try to get easy money.
