Construction on Malfunction Junction set to begin 2020

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — Anyone who has traveled along the interstate often called “Malfunction Junction” knows where the names comes from.

That may soon be a thing of the past. According to the Department of Transportation, the project known as Carolina Crossroads which includes the I-20, I-26, and 126 interchange is moving forward.

This past Spring the department completed its final environmental impact study last spring.
the department says it will hire a contractor this year with construction slated to begin in 2020.
