Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– A corrections officer in Columbia is accused of opening an inmate’s cell, allowing other inmates inside to assault him.

Alicia Smith is charged with accessory before the fact and felony misconduct in office.
Smith was a sergeant at Broad River Correctional Institute.
A spokesperson for the Department of Corrections says Smith was fired following her arrest.
